How to Prevent and Get Rid of Blackheads

Share with

Blackheads are like those uninvited guests, who can visit you any day, and stay as long as they want. Blackheads basically are black spots on the skin that occur due to many causes such as excess oil, dead skin cells, clogged pores, and bacteria. Although there are various methods to get rid of them, one should prevent it more effectively. When it comes to getting rid of blackheads, there are two ways you can opt for: One can DIY at home, or, for more severe or persistent cases of acne, one can consult a skin care clinic. Below are some helpful tips to prevent blackheads:

1.  Frequently cleanse your skin:

This seems like a bit of old and battered advice but that is the best one out there too. A cleanser with a gentle scrub is a must-have if you are prone to blackheads and have oily skin.

2. Never – we repeat Never sleep without removing your makeup:

It is essential to understand that your skin needs to breathe, it is absolutely necessary to remove any kind of makeup before night time – to get rid of all the dirt and cleanse your pores to stop them from getting clogged and in return forming blackheads.

3. Use an Oil-Free Sunscreen/cream:

Not all hydrating creams/lotions are oil-based and tend to block your pores, you need to find a non-sticky version for your skin if you are prone to acne or black and whiteheads.

4. Exfoliating Peels or Masks:

To avoid excessive exfoliation, one needs to understand the right technique of achieving hydration along with getting rid of blackheads. Consult a dermatologist for the best acid peel or mask for your skin type – that doesn’t damage your skin.

5. Remove large blackheads with strips or comedone extractor:

To get a large blackhead out at home – one can use Pore strips which are like a Band-Aids, using adhesive to rip away dead skin cells and dirt. It is oddly satisfying to see those blackheads being pulled out with the strip. Although, there are few stubborn blackheads that would need the help of extractor – a little painful but you can target each blackhead individually. You can also get it professionally removed at a skin care clinic too.

There are various techniques to help you get rid of the blackheads. One needs to treat their skin with utmost care and consult an expert if the blackhead problem is persistent. Blackheads are the first step towards acne which can be painful and extremely unpleasant to deal with. Always remember to contact a good skin care clinic, for any skin abnormalities and do not try to deal with it at home.
