Bitter Gourd

Cinnamon

Studies have pointed that cinnamon or Dalchini is successful in slashing down cholesterol levels by 18% and blood sugar levels by 24%. Cinnamon has further shown promising results by lowering insulin resistance in the body.

Turmeric

Curcumin, a compound found in Haldi or turmeric when coupled with omega-3 fats, prove to be effective in limiting or preventing the onset of Type-2 diabetes. It also supports by strengthening the immune system and by controlling triglyceride and cholesterol levels in the body.

Spinach

The inclusion of this leafy green in one’s diet can help one offset low levels of magnesium in the body. Magnesium is a vital mineral which helps in blood sugar level regulation and the low glycemic index in spinach makes it almost like a “free food.”

Indian Gooseberry

Amla or the Indian gooseberry is known to contain chromium, a mineral helpful in managing carbohydrate metabolism. It makes the body more responsive towards insulin and keeps the high blood sugar levels at bay.

Black Jamun

Jamun contains no sucrose and has hypoglycemic effects that lessen blood and urine sugar levels. The seeds of the fruit carry Jamboline which is capable of preventing the conversion of starch into sugar.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha when blended with herbs like Kutki or Shilajit, imitates standard glucose lowering drugs. It hikes insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance, boosts metabolism and protects pancreatic beta cells from damage.

Gurmar

The herb popularly known as the sugar destroyer suppresses sweet taste of food and enhances liver functions optimizing production of insulin in the body. It is also known to provide effective support for insulin resistance and promotes the increase in insulin producing cells of the pancreas.

Neem

Also termed as Margosa Leaves, neem is one of the best medicinal herbs available to control diabetes. Neem leaf extracts dilate blood vessels and help improve blood circulation in the body. Neem seed extracts and oil allows the body to regulate sugar levels in the presence of smaller amounts of insulin.
