What are Hormones?

  • Hormones are usually called as the body’s chemical messengers.
  • Hormones are a class of signalling molecules that are produced by glands in multicellular organisms.
  • Hormones are moved by the circulatory system to all organs to regulate behaviour and physiology.
  • Hormones play a significant role in our actions and mood swings, they also regulate our hunger cravings.
  • The human body secretes and circulates about 50 different hormones.

Why Hormone Therapy?

  • Under hormone therapy or hormonal therapy, hormones are used for purposes of medical treatment.
  • Oncologic hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy are the most general classes of hormone therapy.
  • Hormone therapy changes hormone levels in the body and can stop or slow down the progress of some types of cancer.
  • Hormone replacement therapy is widely used to treat menopausal symptoms, prevention of heart diseases and possibly dementia.

How is hormone therapy initiated?

  • Tests including hormone panel test, thyroid test, saliva test, blood sugar test and vitamin D3 tests are done to understand the hormonal health of a person.
  • Underlying probable causes for an imbalance in hormone levels such as puberty, menopause, and perimenopause are ascertained.
  • Hormonal imbalance also occurs due to imbalanced lifestyle and excessive toxins in the body.
  • An appropriate hormonal therapy involving medications is then suggested after the study of the hormonal system of an individual is complete.
